Practise Speaking English on the Phone:
There are many reasons for making a phone call.
Every day, you may make phone calls to your friends and family.
Sometimes you need information. Example: from your bank.
Sometimes you need other information.
You also need to talk to many other people.
When making a phone call follow these steps:
1. Greet the person. Example: “Good morning, Shreya.”
2. Introduce yourself. Example: “This is Samir speaking. I am calling from Delhi.”
Make sure to speak loudly and clearly.
3. Listen carefully when the other person is talking.
Wait for the person to finish talking before you speak.
4. Thank the person after you finish the call.
You can say ‘goodbye’ at the end of the call.
Example: “Thank you for the information. Goodbye!”
An example of a good phone call:
This is an example of a phone conversation.
Megha is a graduate. She will go for an interview tomorrow. She will meet Mr. Kapoor.
Megha needs the address of the office. She calls Mr. Kapoor for the address.

Mr.Kapoor: “Hello.”
Megha: “Hello, is this Mr. Kapoor?”
Mr.Kapoor: “Yes, this is Kapoor. How can I help you?”
Megha: “Hi Mr. Kapoor, this is Megha. Can I please know your office address?”
Mr. Kapoor: “Sure. Our office is on the 2nd floor of ABC mall. Does this help?”
Megha: “Yes, thank you! I will see you tomorrow. Goodbye!”
Mr. Kapoor: “You are welcome, goodbye.”

A phone call where the connection is bad:
Sometimes you cannot hear someone on the phone.
Tell the person if you cannot hear them clearly.
Say “can you please repeat what you said?” or “can you speak louder?”
Remember:
Speak slowly and loudly. You will feel confident!
