Regular Verbs vs Irregular Verbs
Regular verbs are verbs that add –ed or -d at the end of the verb to make it past simple and past participle.
For example:
Exercise
Past tense of exercise is exercised.
Past participle of exercise is exercised.
Here is an example sentence: I exercised yesterday!
Irregular verbs are verbs that do not end with -ed or – d to make it past simple and past participle.
Here Are Some Examples of Irregular Verbs
Example 1:
The past tense of become is became.
For example,
She became the president!
Example 2
The past tense of drink is drank.
For example,
I drank all the apple juice.
Example 3
The past tense of wake is woke.
For example,
I woke up at 8 am.
Example 4
The past tense of eat is ate.
For example,
We ate dinner at 7 pm.
Example 5
The past tense of Bite is bit.
For example,
The dog bit the sofa.
There are irregular verbs that are the same in their basic form and in their past tense!
Example 6
The Past tense of cost is cost.
For example,
The book cost me a lot of money.
Costed is incorrect!
Example 7
The past tense of burst is burst.
For example,
My sister burst my balloon yesterday.
Bursted is incorrect.
Example 8
The past tense of cast is cast.
For example,
I was cast in a play at school.
Casted is incorrect.
Example 9
The past tense of hurt is hurt.
For example,
She hurt her knee in the match.
Hurted is incorrect.
Example 10
The past tense of put is put!
For example,
She put ice on her knee for a week.
Putted is incorrect.
