Our Life at Work

Everyone needs to work! 

We work to earn money.

We work to achieve our goals.

Most of us work 8 hours every day.

This means we spend 40 to 50 hours every week working! 

Enjoying our work is important.

We learn new skills from our jobs.

If we do our work well, we may get rewards.

Getting a promotion is an exciting feeling!

We may travel because of our job.

We meet colleagues who become our friends. 

Our jobs are a big part of our lives. 

Can You Describe Your Job?

People may ask, “What do you do?”

You need to answer that question.

Start by saying your job title. 

For example, you can say, “I am a service engineer.”  

You could also add where you work.

For example, “I am a service engineer at the ABC Appliance Co.” 

Sometimes the title may not be enough to explain your job role. 

Think about the main thing you do at work! 

You could say, “I service electric appliances that customers buy.” 

“I travel to customers’ homes on my motor-cycle.”

“I make sure the customers are satisfied with the service.”

“My company trains me on new products; I learn a lot from this job.”

“I am learning English. Many customers speak English.”
