Countable words
Countable words are words that can be counted.
For example: “There are 3 trees in the garden.”
Trees can be counted.
However, there are some words that cannot be counted.
Uncountable Words
Uncountable words are words that cannot be counted.
For example, I have cash in my pocket.
But if you say, “I have 3 cash/ cashes in my pocket.”
This is incorrect.
Learn some countable and uncountable words, today.
Some countable words are:
1. Apple/Apples
For example:
I have 1 apple in my bag.
I have 10 apples in my bag.
2. Book/Books
For example:
I bought a book from the store.
I bought 2 books from the store.
3. Word/Words
For example:
Add 1 more word to this sentence.
Add 4 more words to this sentence.
4. Egg/Eggs
For example:
I make an omelette with 1 egg.
I make an omelette with 3 eggs.
5. Sandwich/Sandwiches
He made 1 extra sandwich for his friend.
He made 2 extra sandwiches for his friend.
Some uncountable words are:
6. Furniture
For example:
I have to move all my furniture today.
“Furnitures” is incorrect.
7. Water
For example:
Can we have 2 glasses of water?
“Waters” is incorrect.
8. Salt
For example:
Add 2 teaspoons of salt to the pan.
“Salts” is incorrect.
9. Rice
For example:
Can you wash 2 cups of rice, please?
“Rices” is incorrect.
10. Sand
For example:
There is sand all over my clothes!
“Sands” is incorrect.
