New Delhi – The Capital of India 

New Delhi is a district of Delhi. 

It is the capital of India! 

The three branches of government are in New Delhi.

During the British raj, Kolkata was India’s capital. 

Before that, India had many capitals during the Mughal Empire.

The city has many different parts. 

Each part has a history. 

Delhi is an old city.

The Yamuna river flows through Delhi. 

Old Delhi or Puraani Dilli is in the centre of the city. 

Shah Jahan built Old Delhi in 1639. 

It was called Shahjahanabad then. 

The Red Fort and Jama Masjid are found here. 

Jama Masjid is the biggest mosque in India. 

The Qutub Minar is in the Mehrauli district of Delhi. 

It is the tallest minaret in the world. 

It is also a UNESCO world heritage site!

The Lotus Temple is found in Delhi. 

It is one of the 7 Bahai temples in the world! 

Delhi has many special places.

Khari Baoli is in Chandni Chowk.

It is the largest spice market in Asia. 

Delhi is a wonderful place.

Rajkiya Sarvodaya Bal Kanya Vidyalaya has a swimming pool.
